Ms. B. Muthalakshmi (18) relates her experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan in her
own words.
‘I first heard about Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in 2000. We wanted to go to Puttaparthi
and have His Darshan. We booked tickets, but cancelled them owing to some reason
or the other.
In November 2003, I began to feel unwell. I had no appetite. I used to get fever.
I used to vomit even if I ate any little food. I was admitted in a leading hospital
at Chennai and underwent a number of tests. Though they did not tell me, my ailment
was diagnosed as blood cancer. I was very weak. My weight came down to just 34 kg.
They wanted to shift me to Adayar Hospital. I asked my mother, ‘what is my ailment?
Why are they doing all this only for fever? Is it cancer?’
My mother emphatically said, ‘no, no! It is not cancer’.
But at Adayar Hospital the name board clearly told me that it is a hospital for
treatment of cancer. I was taken there on December 23, 2003. They told my parents,
I was given to understand afterwards, ‘we cant admit her now. Take her home. If
she is alive till tomorrow, bring her to us. We will admit’. I was again taken to
them on December 24, and I was admitted. I was kept in the ICU, as my condition
was serious. They began giving me blood transfusion. Later they started chemotherapy.
As I was undergoing treatment thus without any appreciable response, Bhagavan appeared
in the dream to my friend Soundarya.
‘Mr. Kumara Swami has a packet of vibhuti given by me to him. Get it and give it
to Muthalakshmi,’ Swami told her.
They went to Mr. Kumara Swami. He is an ardent devotee of Bhagavan and the correspondent
of Sri Sathya Sai High School at Chennai. ‘Swami gave me two packets’, he told them,
‘I think one must be there’. He went and searched. ‘I have only one packet with
me’, he said giving the packet of vibhuti for me, ‘give this to her’.
Thus Swami’s vibhuti came to me in the hospital the next day. When I received the
vibhuti, I felt immense confidence. I told my mother and others, ‘see! I have nothing
to fear. I will be all right. Swami will take care of me’.
One day one Mr. Srinivas came to the hospital. He is an aged person, about 75 years
old, and a staunch devotee of Bhagavan. He gave me a photograph of Bhagavan.
‘Keep this under your pillow’, he told me, ‘I will pray for you daily’. He used
to do 1008 times Sai Gayathri daily keeping a cup of milk before Swami’s photograph,
and then send the milk thus sanctified to me. I used to drink it. Though I had three
courses of chemotherapy, I did not suffer any serious side effects. Doctors used
to tell me, ‘we are proud of you. Your confidence in overcoming this disease is
amazing’. The doctor is also a Sai devotee. ‘I am certain that Bhagavan is with
me’, I used to reply, ‘that is why I am so confident of my recovery’.
On April 14, 2004, my condition became very serious. Doctors did not expect me to
see another dawn. No one except myself was confident of my recovery.
That day my brother, Mr. Ramakrishna went to Brindavan to seek the blessings of
Bhagavan for me as my condition was serious. When he returned, I asked ‘could you
see Swami?’ ‘No’ he replied. ‘Swami did not come for Darshan at all. I was told
that some people whom Bhagavan loves dearly were very seriously ill, and that He
was praying for them. So He did not come for Darshan’. I said, ‘I am sure I am one
those whom Swami is trying to save’. My confidence re-doubled.
On the next day, doctors found improvement in me. I was shifted from the ICU to
the ward. With in twenty-four hours there was a sea change.
On the night of April 14 when all had given up hopes of my survival, I had a dream.
An old lady appeared in my dream and said ‘I entered your body and cleansed you
of all negative forces. You will be all right’. In the dream she gave me vibhuti.
I thought that she was Iswaramba, mother of Bhagavan. I was discharged after a few
days, and was asked to report after a month.
My family had spent nearly Rs. 10 lakhs on my treatment thus far. ‘You have to undergo
three more courses of chemotherapy’, the doctors told me. Each course costs Rs.
one lakh. Our people tried their best, but could not raise the money needed. I began
praying to Swami intensely ‘Bhagavan! We have no money to pay for the treatment.
You have to take care of us’.
We went to the doctor for check up. He examined me and said, ‘you have been given
already more than what you need. Now you don’t require any more courses of chemotherapy’.
Thus Swami saved us from financial problem and cured me completely without the three
more courses of chemotherapy. Doctors afterwards said that I was healed completely
and needed no further treatment.
Now I take only Swami’s vibhuti and no other medicine. In March-April 2005, I appeared
for XII class public exam and passed owing to the grace of Bhagavan. I have come
to Prasanthi Nilayam today to write the entrance exam for admission to the graduation
course in Swami’s women’s college at Anantapur.’
