Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning,
Anantapur Campus.
Ms. Anisha Chhetri, a student of the third year B.Sc. (Hons) of the Sri Sathya Sai
Institute of Higher Learning, Anantapur Campus narrates her experiences of the Divinity
of Bhagavan in her own words.
'When I entered the portals of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning,
I was completely unaware of who Sri Sathya Sai Baba was, how He looked, and what
He would mean to me. I was timid and scared. Within a few weeks, I got jaundice.
This added to my fear. I was completely unnerved, thinking that I was all alone
miles away from home. Isolated in the sick room, I sat gazing at Swami's picture
for hours and hours. An unknown strength surged into me and, in due course, that
became the force of faith.
Still vivid in my memory is that most wonderful and unforgettable day of my life
- the first time I saw God. I was filled with inexplicable joy which I could express
only through tears. His enchanting smile invigorated me and my life. The image of
God which I had treasured in my heart till that day came alive and I got a form
to worship.
My ill-health affected my studies. With the little that I had learnt from my friends,
I wrote the examinations. To my surprise, I received more grace and grades than
I expected! As Bhagavan says, 'the grace of God is like the insurance. It will help
in times of need without any limit.' We should be grateful to God for the ordeals
and obstacles that He puts in our life for they are the shortest way to reach Him.
Having been gifted with musical abilities, I always wanted to sing before Swami
a particular song, baba natkhat hai re….. It was my second year at College. Krishna
Janmashtami was fast approaching, and a small wish escaped my heart - 'Swami, I
wish to sing this song in Your physical presence. If You don't make that possible,
I will surely sing it before the Picture on the altar on that day.' This was just
a very small wish, but before I realized what had happened, it was fulfilled. The
very next day, our teachers proposed to have a music programme in front of Swami
on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami. I was very pleasantly surprised. More surprise
awaited me when they read out the list of songs to be sung. My favourite song was
in the list! And I was supposed to sing it!'
