Mrs. Supriya Prabhu(43), a housewife, relates a few of her experiences of the Divinity
of Bhagavan in her own words.
'I had the good fortune of being born in a family of Sri Sathya Sai devotees. Bhagavan
Sri Sathya Sai Baba performed akshrabhyasam to me at Prasanthi Nilayam. Swami wrote
'Om' on the slate, took my hand and made me follow with slate pencil on the 'Om'.
He also made me repeat 'Om' three times.
I was fortunate to be a Swami's student as I graduated from the Ananthpur Campus.
It was my good fortune that Swami had performed my marriage in the interview room
in the mandir of Prasanthi Nilayam. As Swami usually does on such occasions, Swami
materialized mangalasutras and gave them to the bridegroom, Mr. Kishore Prabhu who
was also a student of Swami. Bhagavan gave new clothes to us and arranged the marriage
feast Himself.
There has been a custom in our families to change the name of the bride after the
marriage. My father-in-law Mr. Sridhar Prabhu requested Bhagavan to give me a new
name.
'What is your name?' Swami asked me feigning innocence though He is omniscient.
'Sujatha, Swami!'
Swami paused for a moment and said, 'call her Supriya'
Then Swami turned to my husband and said, 'call your new house Supriya'. This was
on September 12, 1986. My husband had constructed the new house as far back as 1981
when swami told him that he would name it. He fulfilled His promise in 1986.
My husband was away at Prasanthi Nilayam attending to Seva there. At that time,
I was carrying. On September 25, 1987, I delivered a female child at 1:30 p.m. Though
we had not informed anyone of the news, Swami told my husband by 2:15 p.m. that
day the good news that he was blessed with a child. He took the trouble of calling
my husband, and informed him of the joyous tidings.
When my daughter was five months old, I took her to Brindavan where Swami was at
that time. During the darshan, I showed my child to Swami and prayed 'Swami! Pray
give her a name'.
'What is your name?' Swami asked in His usual style feigning innocence.
'Supriya, Swami!'
'Call her Sujana', Swami told me and moved on.
Sujana had the good fortune to be a student of Swami from class I to calss XII.
In March, 2005, she passed her XII standard. She applied for a seat in B.Sc. (Biology)
at a reputed college in Bangalore. Every one told us that it would be very difficult
to get a seat in that college; 'try some recommendation', they used to advise.
We knew no one who could recommend her case except Swami.
Sujana prayed to Bhagavan mentally chanting His name. She got a seat because she
was a student of Swami's school.
'If there are any of your classmates from Swami's school, get them, we will give
them seats, too', they told her.
That is the regard Swami's students command even in colleges run by those who are
not Swami's devotees.'
