Mr. S. Satyanarayana Rao (63), who retired as a senior official of the Small Scale
Industries Corporation, Hyderabad, relates a few of his experiences of the Divinity
of Bhagavan in his own words.
'I used to go to the house of Late Burgula Ramakrishna Rao at Hyderabad whenever
Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba came there and accorded Darshan. I used to go to Sivam
whenever Bhagavan came there. I used to participate in bhajan besides having Darshan.
I always keep a Photograph of Bhagavan in my diary, and carry it wherever I go.
In 1975, I went to a Bank in Kothi, Hyderabad and withdrew some cash. As I came
out, I saw a bus, which would take me to my place. Without thinking, I was tempted
to board the running bus. I ran along, and grabbed the rod at the entrance of the
bus. As the bus was in movement, I could not enter the bus. I could put only one
foot on the footboard, while the other was dragging on the road. Fortunately, I
was wearing shoes, so my foot that was dragging was not injured. I was holding the
diary with the Photograph of Bhagavan in one hand as I clung to the rod with the
other, praying to Swami.
Kothi is a very busy traffic centre. I was facing the danger of some moving vehicle
dashing against me as I hung out of the bus precariously. But thanks to Bhagavan,
nothing of that sort happened. Suddenly, quite a few metres away, the bus stopped
and I could move into the bus safely. Whenever I think of that narrow escape, I
am overwhelmed by gratitude to Swami for having saved me from a very great danger.
In 2001, one Mrs. Srinivas, a devotee of Bhagavan from Nuliveedu in Rayalaseema
came to my house to do pooja. As she was doing pooja, amritam (honey), vibhuti,
kumkum and turmeric came from the various photographs of deities in my house. She
materialised a garland of red crystals and gave it to me. She materialised an idol
of Shirdi Sai, which is still in our pooja. She poured amritam from her empty hand
into the hands of devotees then present as if she was pouring water from a jug.
Mrs. Srinivas told us that Bhagavan has bestowed on her the power to perform miracles
and permitted her to do so. She did not say whether Swami had conferred on her this
power in any dream or in a vision or in person.
I had the good fortune of attending a bhajan held in the exhibition grounds when
Bhagavan personally sang bhajan songs and conducted the bhajan. I was thrilled by
one song in particular, 'Amba Parameswari…' Even now it reverberates in my ears.
At that time, I was unmarried. I don't know if it is a coincidence or the grace
of Bhagavan that my wife is called 'Amba' by all our relatives.'
