Mr. R.V.Subba Rao (76), a leading lawyer (now retired), has been a staunch devotee
of Bhagavan for over three decades. He visited Puttaparthi several times and was
blessed by Bhagavan with personal conversation. He has many experiences but shuns
from revealing, as he is averse to publicity. However, he narrates a few of his
experiences in his own words.
We conduct 'Sri Sai Ram Nama Japa Saptaham' every year on a Thursday of our convenience
in the month of Sravana (fifth month in Telugu traditional calendar-year). We have
been doing it for the last 25 long years since 1979, without interruption. We all
join together and organize the Saptaham. That it is being organized every year without
interruption is the benediction of Bhagavan.
Formerly, we used to do Nama Japam using flowers. But Aum Sri Sai Ram Nama Japa
Saptaham in 1979 was done with (raw) rice. On conclusion of the Saptaham, we collected
the rice and used it for Narayana Seva (offering food to the needy poor). This has
been our practice ever since for every Saptaham.
After the ninth Saptaham (1987), I went to Puttaparthi. Bhagavan called me for an
interview. 'Swami! I am getting aged', I told Bhagavan, 'I do not know how I can
continue Saptahams every year'.
Bhagavan smiled. 'Don't give up', He said, 'continue it. I am with you. I am in
front of you, behind you, along with you'. Saptahams have continued without interruption,
year after year.
Many miracles happened during the performance of the Saptahams. In 2003, a marble
Ganesh idol, gold flowers and several coins with Swami's Picture appeared before
the Photographs of Bhagavan. Sometimes some idol, or other items like vibhuti, akshatas,
pearls, gold chains, etc were found either before the Photographs or in other places
of our house.
An idol of Sri Krishna came on Krishnastami Day in 2003 along with a flute before
the Photograph of Bhagavan. That day a lingam came into the hands of Dr. Satyanarayana,
a fellow devotee and architect of Sri Sathya Sai Mandir in Malkajgiri, Secunderabad,
at our house. Similarly, vibhuti, akshatas and amritam (honey like thick liquid)
also came on different days.
I have had the good fortune of having Darshan of Bhagavan at Puttaparthi or other
centres several times since 1974. Sometime ago, my wife had a problem affecting
her kidneys. I mentioned this to Bhagavan during Darshan at Kodai Canal when He
was there. Bhagavan materialized vibhooti and gave me for my wife. After taking
vibhuti, the problem never bothered her again.
My brother-in-law, Dr.K.Sundara Rao had cancer in 1993. I mentioned it to Bhagavan
during Darshan at Puttaparthi.
'Swami!' I said, 'my brother-in-law Dr.Sundara Rao is suffering from nose cancer'.
As pus and bleeding were occurring through his nose, we assumed that it was a malignant
nasal affliction. Doctors told him that it was cancer.
'No', pat came the reply from Bhagavan.
'Not in the nose but in the throat.'
Bhagavan materialized some vibhuti and gave for him. On my return I learnt that
it was, indeed, a throat cancer case as Swami observed. Bhagavan cancelled Dr. Rao's
cancer. It never recurred for him.
Owing to Bhagavan's grace, we constructed a Bhajan hall in our house. At the time
of inauguration, we placed a garland on Swami's Photograph. The garland miraculously
cut into three pieces by itself, signifying, perhaps, the arrival of Bhagavan for
the inaugural function.
