Mr. Mohd. Khalil (50) ekes out his livelihood by fixing cattle shoes. He relates
a few of his experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan in his own words.
‘I came to Puttaparthi in 1985 in search of livelihood. I struggled here for a few
months. I did not see much work or hope to continue. So I was toying with the idea
of shifting to Penukonda.
Then Sri Sathya Sai Baba came into the dream of my wife. ‘Don’t go from Puttaparthi’,
Baba told my wife in the dream, ‘you will be all right here only’. She told me about
the dream. We were not believers in Baba at that time, much less His devotees. I
was perplexed, but we decided to wait and see.
In a few weeks, I began getting work. My earnings began to rise. One day the manager
of Gokulam sent for me. ‘We are looking for some one to fix shoes to cattle. Why
don’t you do it?’ he asked. I gladly agreed. After a month or so, he asked me if
my wife was observing veil. I said no.
‘Suppose we show her some work on payment, will she do?’ he asked. My wife agreed.
He arranged for my wife to work as a servant maid-cum-nurse to an old lady from
Indonesia residing in Prasanthi Nilayam Round House 3. She got a job that way.
I was blessed with a daughter and a son. Both are married. My son is working as
a tailor. Owing to ‘Swami’s grace, I am now better off. I have had no occasion to
regret for believing Swami’s word in dream and staying on here.’
