Canadian Civil Service (Rtd),
Toranto, Canada
Mr. V. Lingam (67) is a retired civil servant of the Government of Canada. He has
been a devotee of Bhagavan since 1993 and has been blessed with many blissful experiences.
He narrates a few of them in his own words.
'We had originally belonged to Madhurai, Tamilnadu State, India. We migrated to
Sri Lanka. I was a Deputy Collector in the Sri Lankan Administrative Service, the
counterpart of the IAS in India. Riots broke out in 1983 when we had to leave Sri
Lanka for the UK. One day we had everything, and the next day we were reduced to
nothing. All this was for no fault of ours.
In the UK, I had to do all sorts of odd jobs for about a decade before I could manage
to go to the USA and then to Canada. There I could enter the Canadian Civil Service
and lead a comfortable life.
I used to hear about Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba from my sister-in-law who happened
to be a devotee of Bhagavan. She used to exhort me to go to Puttaparthi and have
Darshan of Bhagavan. She used to take us for Bhajans. However, I had no faith in
Sri Sathya Sai being a Divine Incarnation.
One day when my sister-in-law was telling me to go to Puttaparthi, I said, 'let
me have some experience of His Divinity. Then I will go'. On that day, there was
Bhajan and we all went there locking our house. When we opened the door on return
from Bhajan, we found, to our utter amazement, flowers sprinkled from the main door
to the bedroom as well as in the hall. There was fine fragrance of vibhuti in the
entire house. No surprise, I became an instant convert as a devotee of Baba. This
happened in September 1993 in Canada.
In March 2003, I came to India. I had heart problem and got myself checked up in
a private Hospital at Bangalore. There they advised me to undergo angiogram. On
the very same night, my sister's son had a dream in which Bhagavan told him that
I was admitted in a Hospital at Bangalore for cardiac surgery and asked him to go
and help me. He mentioned this to my close relatives. Even though I did not inform
anyone, that boy and a few others came to me and helped me while I was in the Hospital.
I underwent bye-pass surgery. By Bhagavan's grace, I am all right now.
Many are the mystic experiences we have had due to Bhagavan's grace. Considering
how we had to build up everything from a scratch after leaving Sri Lanka, it is
only due to His grace that we are what we are today.
