Dr. Narendra Raju (39), a medical practitioner, relates a few of his experiences
of the Divinity of Bhagavan in his own words.
'I belong to Bangalore. Whenever Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba was in Bangalore,
He used to visit sometimes some devotees' houses in our locality. Then we used to
see Him and He used to wave at us smilingly. That was my only contact with Swami
for a long time.
After my marriage, my mother used to tell us often that, according to the horoscope
of my wife as well as mine, we would beget only female children. In 1992, we had
our first child, Namrata. Keeping with the thinking of modern times, we did not
opt for a second child for a long time. Then we decided to have another child. But
even after our deciding thus, there was no sign of pregnancy for one and half years.
When the pregnancy came, it was a case of ecoptic pregnancy and had to be terminated
medically. This happened once again when one of her fallopian tubes had to be removed.
The other one had 99% blocked. The medical opinion ruled out the possibility of
her getting children again.
Meanwhile we came into the fold of Bhagavan again miraculously. We came to Prasanthi
Nilayam in 2002. After our return to Abu Dabi, my wife was in the family way. Scanning
revealed that it was a uterine pregnancy. We were happy.
One day I had a dream. Baba appeared in it. He was having pains such as the labour
pains of a woman about to deliver.
'What is the matter, Baba?' I asked Him.
He took out a baby from His abdomen and gave it to me. The dream ended. I surmised
from that that my wife would have to undergo caesarean to deliver the child.
After a few days, I had another dream. I saw a white lady with blonde hair doing
the caesarean operation. I told my wife about it.
'How can it be?' she protested, 'I have been going to Dr. (Mrs) Mangala from the
beginning. She alone would do my delivery'. I did not argue and let it go.
One day she told me that Bhagavan came in her dream and asked to christen the new
born as Sai Ram. 'How can that be?' I wondered, 'according to astrologers, we beget
only daughters. Won't it look odd to call a girl Sai Ram?'
'We will have only a son,' she declared, 'and we are going to call him Sai Ram.'
She underwent caesarean operation more than two weeks ahead of the due date of delivery.
A white lady performed the caesarean as Dr. Mangala was not available at that time.
That doctor was a blonde! And we had a son whom we named Sai Ram.
I had an offer for a better placement in another hospital three months before the
birth of my son. But I could not join there as there was no substitute to relieve
me. On the day of the birth of my son, I received a call from an Indian doctor that
he would come and relieve me. Thus Swami not only gave us a son, but sent, along
with him, good news to facilitate my promotion that had been hanging fire for quite
some time.'
