Ms. Joan Davis,
Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital,
Prasanthi Nilayam.

Ms. Joan Davis, an ardent devotee of Bhagavan, has come to stay at Prasanthi Nilayam and work in Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital. She records an experience of an acquaintance of hers in an article published in Arogyapradayini, the Golden Jubilee publication of Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital, Prasanthi Nilayam released in August 2006.

'In the early days of my stay in the Ashram, in the year 1984, I was sharing accommodation with a group of devotees from West Indies. Among this group was a lady named Samdai, mother of seven children. She had a pure and tender heart and a deep, steady faith in Bhagavan Baba. She told me the following story of her own healing and how it brought her to God. It is related below in her own telling words:

'I offer my humble pranams at Your lotus feet, my beloved Mother. In the year 1973, I was suffering from an incurable weeping rash on my forehead. I had gone to many doctors and pharmacists, but there was no cure. One morning, I was travelling to a specialist with my hands covering my forehead. There was a lady sitting next to me in the car and she said to me 'aren't your hands tired? Why are you covering your head like this?' I replied to her 'you wouldn't like to see my forehead.' She asked to see it and then said 'please don't go to anyone; go straight home and come to my house at six o'clock.' I got there at six and she told me to sit down. She came to me with half a glass of water and a small packet in her hand. I was completely innocent of what she was going to give me. I noticed her open the packet and throw some of the contents in the water. She stirred it and asked me to drink, and then she gave the rest of that same packet to me and said 'go home and apply it to your forehead.' I did as she told me, and when I woke up the next day the rash was completely healed!

It is the greatest miracle that had ever happened to me. My friends could not believe, when they saw the transformation. I went back and asked her 'where did you get this?' She told me 'from God.' I asked her 'where is God? Is He here now?' to which she replied, 'He is walking in India.' I accepted her words readily, so I went knocking door to door, telling people 'God is walking on the face of the earth.'

My beloved Mother! Thank you for caring for me even before I knew You. The people of this world! I am offering an invitation to come and see for yourself this God living in human form. Come and receive His priceless infinite love! Only this Mother, with so much love and care, plans for each of Her children, a Mother, who is walking the face of the earth in bare feet and a simple robe. Come and walk in Heaven in the home of the Living God! Receive the boundless love with which the universe is blessed always!'

When one contacts Divinity, thoughts are stilled and words become superfluous. Yet one cannot resist the temptation to name the Nameless and describe the Indescribable.'
