Mrs. V.B.T. Sundari (50), a Balvikas teacher, relates her experiences of the Divinity
of Bhagavan in her own words.
'I have happened to know Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba since my childhood. Swami
performed the marriage of my brother at Puttaparthi in 1980. I went there for the
first time and had Darshan of Bhagavan. Swami performed then aksharabhyasam to my
daughter, Vaishnavi.
My in-laws are Saivaits. Though my husband did not object to my devotion to Bhagavan,
I myself kept my devotion to Swami on a low key confining Swami to my heart.
After a gap of 20 years, Swami brought me back into His line again when my husband
Mr. V.V.S.R.S.Sarma was made in-charge of Sri Sathya Sai Bhajan Mandal of our locality.
I began to take interest in seva activities. I adopted students of the Vivekananda
School as well as the inmates of a Home for Destitute Children. I wanted to bring
them to Prasanthi Nilayam and give them an opportunity of having Darshan of Bhagavan.
In 2002, I brought a group of devotees including the boys in five buses to Prasanthi
Nilayam. On the way we stopped on the roadside. I was getting the children clean
their teeth. Suddenly one of the boys, Master Sudhanva of the Vivekananda School
ran to the other side across the road as if by an impulse. We were afraid that he
would be crushed to death as a lorry was coming just then from the opposite side.
But he was unhurt.
Later he told us, 'I did not see the lorry. By the time I saw the lorry it was too
late. Then suddenly a person came, pulled me aside and saved me. By the time I recovered
from the shock, he was not to be seen'. We did not see anyone. We considered that
Swami came and saved the boy.
I organise a trip every year to Prasanthi Nilayam. I do it after giving a letter
to Swami. I do not ask any help from any one. But money comes from unexpected sources
just enough for our expenses. We could complete three trips so far covering about
500 children including some from the Home for Destitute Children.
During a trip to Prasanthi Nilayam, I sat in Darshan line along with the children.
Swami came along the line and stared at me for a couple of minutes. Later we returned
to Hyderabad.
We were running a prayer hall on temporary basis in a vacant site. We were asked
to vacate that. I was wondering why this happened immediately on our return from
Prasanthi Nilayam. Just at that time, the management of the Tatigadda Anjaneya Swami
Temple offered a spacious vacant site to us in the premises of the temple to construct
a prayer hall. I thought this was a god-sent opportunity for us, and constructed
a prayer hall. We named it Sri Sai Gayathri Prayer Hall and installed an idol of
Gayathri there. Money for the construction of the prayer hall came from various
sources even without our asking for it, miraculously. I think that when Swami looked
at me in Darshan line for a couple of minutes, He blessed us with the strength and
circumstances of constructing the hall. We also performed there recently mass upanayanams
for seven boys owing to His grace.'
