Mrs. Gurumeet Kaur (43) is presently a resident of Puttaparthi. She narrates her experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan in her own words.

'I was born and bred up in Ludhiana, Punjab. I lost my parents and also a brother. Another brother is in the USA. There was none to look after me there. One day the mother of one of my friends gave me a small photograph of Bhagavan Sri Satya Sai Baba and told me, 'He is God. You always pray to Him. He will take care of you.' That is the first time I heard about Bhagavan.

As advised by her, I used to pray to Swami. One day I heard a voice say, 'come to Puttaparthi'. I don't know if it was my feeling, but I am sure I heard it. But I didn't know at that time where Puttaparthi is. But the urge to go there was growing in me. One day some of my relatives gave me some money and helped me to go over here. I went to the railway station. There was no vacancy in the train as I did not do any advance reservation. I contacted the Station Master and requested him to help me get a berth as I had to go urgently. He helped me and I could get a berth. I am sure it was all Swami's grace that I had got a berth and could travel comfortably.

At the Bangalore railway station, a person in white dress came to me and enquired where I had to go. I said 'Puttaparthi'. Immediately he went and brought a ticket for me and also put me in the right train. He refused to take money for the ticket. I was wonderstruck as he spoke to me in Punjabi. With the little money I had, I could manage to stay inside the ashram for some time. Then I had to come out. I prayed to Bhagavan in my mind to keep me usefully engaged. Next day I got a chance to do seva in the vegetable stall.

Sometimes I used to have a vision when I used to see various gods and goddesses. Once during Dasara, I had fever. I could not sit for darshan. I came back to my room. 'Swami! Devotees are coming to see the festival from far off places' I prayed to Swami, 'I am here but I am not able to attend'. I then dozed off to sleep as I was very tired. Swami appeared in my dream and softly slapped me on my cheek. I awoke to find that my fever was gone. At once I hurried to the mandir where I found Swami giving Divine Discourse.

On Sivarathri day, I was doing pooja when kumkum came from the small photograph of Bhagavan which I kept in the pooja for my use.

In 2002, one of my neighbours, Mr. Unni Krishnan, who came from Kerala, was involved in an accident. He asked if anyone would go to Kerala and bring his mother. I volunteered and went and brought his mother. I also helped her in looking after her son, and tried to be of help to her in cooking etc. It was not really much of help, but they were quite happy. When they were leaving for Kerala, they said 'our flat is vacant. You can stay in it' they added, 'without rent, of course.' I thought it was the arrangement of Swami. The flat is self-contained and fully equipped with all modern gadgets including washing machine, fridge, geezer and the like. I continue to do seva wherever I and whenever I get a chance since it is the only thing Swami likes most.'
