Mr. S.V. Venkatesan (49), who is working as a Superintendent of Central Excise at Madurai, relates an experience of the Divinity of Bhagavan in his own words.

‘Since my childhood, I have been a devotee of Lord Krishna. My wife, Mrs. Umadevi
has been a devotee of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba for the last ten years.

In 1999-2000, she enlisted for seva at Prasanthi Nilayam. Though I was not objecting
to her attending bhajans etc, I did not like her going for seva in view of her health.
I told her not to go but she said, ‘this is a god-given opportunity to do seva.
Why should I forego it? He will take care of me.’

She went to Prasanthi Nilayam and was given work in Sri Sathya Sai Super Specialties
Hospital. She had to work hard, but she did so cheerfully. However, in the last
three or four days, she was having temperature but she did not bother. She continued
to do seva praying to Swami to give her strength to do work.

After completion of seva, she returned. I noticed she was not well. I took her to
a doctor. She had malaria and underwent treatment. One day, after she became well,
we were talking about her trip to Prasanthi Nilayam.

‘I don’t know what seva you did there’, I remarked, ‘but it cost me Rs. 1000 for
                    your treatment’.

No sooner did I complete the sentence than the doorbell rang. There was a messenger
who delivered an envelope to me. I opened it. There was a cheque for Rs. 1000 in
                    my favour. I was stunned.

‘See!’ My wife taunted me, ‘Swami sent back your one thousand at once!’

I had some shares (stock) of a company. I disposed of them two years ago. Now the
same company sent this cheque as dividend on those very shares I had disposed off
two years ago, due for the earlier period. It amounted to just Rs. 1000.’

                    -- Mr. S.V. Venkatesan

(As narrated to Mr. B. Parvatala Rao at Prasanthi Nilayam on 07.05.2005)
