C/o R. K. Drusswala,
Shanti Sneha Colony,
Bilimora - 396 321,
Narsari District, Gujarath.
Mr. Rajul K. Shah (43), a tailor, relates a
few of his experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan in his own words.
'I have been associated with Balvikas since 1988. I came that year to Prasanthi
Nilayam for Balvikas Conference also. In 2002, I was made convenor for our Bilimora
Samithi. I came here for seva in 2002. Then I prayed to Bhagavan in my mind 'Swami!
Pray give us strength to start a centre for free medical service.' I gave a letter
also.
On return, we tried to do it in our own humble way. We made arrangements to run
the camp in the house of one of my friends in a nearby village. We gave publicity.
Just on the opening day, the elder brother of my friend refused to allow the camp
in their house. We had to abandon it in great disappointment. I prayed to Swami
intensely.
One day, one of my friends came to me. 'Pranlal Seth of Bombay has a medical centre
for poor here' he told me, 'he wants to close it. Why don't you go and ask him?'
We went to his house in Bombay. His brother was there. It seems that Mr. Pranlal
was in, but his brother sent us away. He did not offer us a glass of water or a
seat even. We felt hurt. I mentioned to Bhagavan in my mind 'what is this insult'.
After three days, miraculously, we were called by Mr. Pranlal. We went to his house
in Bombay. He took us into his house.
'Can you run the centre' he asked us, 'if I give it to you?'
'Swami will enable us to run it, sir' I replied, 'Swami is God, Bhagavan Sri Sathya
Sai Baba'.
We were told by many that he is a good person, but usually tight-fisted. Our first
experience at his house was not at all encouraging. We were told that he did not
believe in Swami. Even so, we told him plainly that we came carrying the sacred
name of Bhagavan. What we did not know at that time, of course, is that Mr. Lal
was a changed man. A few days back he had undergone successful heart surgery in
Swami's hospital at Rajkot, and became a devotee of Bhagavan.
'My centre is fully equipped and ready for use' Mr. Lal told us, 'I hand it over
to you if you can run it.'
'Swami will take care of it' we said, 'and we will run it as an absolutely free
centre for all! That has been Swami's way.'
'Well' Mr. Lal remarked, 'I don't know how you can run it when I failed. I handover
the centre to you with my token contribution of Rs. 50,000.'
We were stunned and overwhelmed with joy. Swami tested our resolve with insults
hurled at us, and hurdles created only to bless us with all the ware-withal of a
well equipped centre with a corpus of Rs. 50,000.
Today, owing to His grace, our centre runs successfully. Doctors come on their own
and give free consultation and service by turns. We get gifts of medicines from
many sources. Swami has thus fulfilled my desire; He did so with a bang!'
