Mr. Mohit Mahajan (37), an employee of the Education Department, relates a few of
his experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan in his own words.
'During the eighties, Punjab was passing through disturbances. My father Mr. Deenanath
Mahajan is a devotee of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai. He runs a school in our place.
Along with him I came to Prasanthi Nilayam in 1987. I had darshan and padanamaskar.
In those days, I used to go out and play badminton daily. At that time, there was
a menace of terrorists as well as bandits. So, I used to take one security person
as my escort whenever I went out. One day when I went to play badminton, someone
stole my motorbike. Later, he was caught by police. He told police, 'actually I
went there to kidnap Mr. Mahajan. But as he was surrounded by many security men,
I dared not do it. So I took his motorbike, and returned'. When I was told about
it, I replied that I had only one security man with me and not many. I deduced that
Bhagavan had saved me creating such illusion in him.
I was married at 9 a.m. on October 10, 1994. We sent the first invitation card to
Bhagavan. On the day of marriage, we were giving arati to Bhagavan before the marriage.
My cousin Mrs. Pramila came to our hosue just at the time of arati. She entered
the drawing-room, and saw a person in ochre robes sitting on a sofa there. She thought
that we had invited some guruji or saint for the wedding. 'I will go and take arati
first', she thought, 'then I will return to do padanamaskar and take his blessings'.
But when she returned after arati, there was none in the drawing-room. She came
to my mother, Mrs. Krishnakanta and asked, 'have you invited any saint?' my mother
said, 'no. What is the matter?'
'I saw a saint in ochre robes sitting on sofa when I came in', she replied, 'he
is not there now. I wonder where he had gone'. Then she happened to see Bhagavan's
picture on the altar. She had not had darshan of Bhagavan yet. 'Who is He in that
picture?' she asked, 'it is He that was sitting in the drawing-room when I came
in'.
We all were amazed and felt immensely happy that Bhagavan attended my wedding.
My cousin said, 'there was an aura of light around Him. It is very unusual'.
My uncle has been a devotee of Bhagavan for a long time. He used to organise bhajans
in his house. We used to attend the bhajans.
One day we went out and returned home. That was in 1986. There was a fine fragrance
coming from our house as if some 200 agarbatties were lit. When we went in, we found
vibhuti on the picture of Sri Krishna. We cleaned the photograph thinking that someone
among us might have sprinkled vibhuti as part of pooja. But again vibhuti appeared
after sometime. From then onwards, vibhuti used to emanate daily accompanied by
sweet fragrance. In due course, many things began to appear near the photograph,
sometimes sindhur, sometimes cardamom and sometimes vibhuti on murali in the picture
of Krishna.
This went on for two years. My uncle used to say, 'I have been His devotee for a
long time, but Bhagavan has not done any miracle in my house. You are recent additions
to His devotees. He is doing miracles in your house'.
In 1995, world conference was held at Prasanthi Nilayam. The Punjab State President
of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, Mr. V.K.Kapoor told my father, 'we are all
contributing our mite for the conference. It is optional. If you want, you may also
participate in this'. My father made a humble contribution. We all attended the
conference at Prasanthi Nilayam. We brought my three months old son Sai Raghav.
We sat in darshan line with a pair of new scissors. Swami came along the line, took
the scissors and performed kesakhandana, symbolically cutting the locks on the head
of the child.
In fact, the names of my two sons were given by Swami. My mother had dreams on both
occasions. Swami appeared in her dream and gave names Raghava and Vinayaka to my
sons respectively. No one in our whole family was ever named Vinayaka. Some of our
relatives raised their eyebrows, but my mother stood her ground saying, 'it is the
command of God'.
After our return from Prasanthi Nilayam, the State President, Mr. Kapoor told my
father that Bhagavan had asked him 'how are things going?'
Mr. Kapoor answered, 'all right Swami! Our collections are quite impressive. One
of them gave maximum donation'.
'I know', Swami told Mr. Kapoor, 'he has a big school. They do bhajans there'.
Mr. Kapoor was surprised. He was not aware that bhajans are performed in the school.
He kept quiet.
'Do you do bhajans in your school?' Mr. Kapoor asked my father.
'Yes' my father replied, 'we do bhajan daily at the commencement of the day's programme'.
'Swami also said', continued Mr. Kapoor, 'your school is of convent type. It will
be No.1 in the Punjab'. True to Swami's blessings, our school is leading in the
State.'
