Mr. Lanka Lakshmi Narasimha Sarma (71), retired Principal, Sri Ramakrishna Oriental
College, Narasaraopet, relates a few of his experiences of the Divinity of Bhagavan
in his own words.
'I do not remember the year exactly, but I think it was 1962. My uncle Mr. Lanka
Seetarama Sastry received an invitation from Prasanthi Nilayam for Sri Vedapurusha
Jnana Maha Yajna during the Devi Navaratrhi. I too accompanied him. We both were
seated along with others on the dais in the hall where Purnachandra Auditorium now
stands. Thus I had the good fortune of observing leelas of Bhagavan on that occasion
from close quarters.
At the time of Poornaahuti of the Yajna, Navaratnas, etc were to be offered into
the sacred fire of the Yajna. Those performing the Yajna were all concerned about
them, and were searching. Just then Swami came on the dais. He just closed his fist
and shuffled, out-poured diamonds of various colours in sizable quantity. Those
were offered into the sacred fire along with other items like new clothes.
Then Swami took a few akshatas and sprinkled them on the heads of those on the dais
and the VIPs as well as thousands of devotees in the hall. How those few akshatas
were enough to sprinkle on so many heads is a mystery and a miracle to me. Swami
then felicitated Vedic scholars and artistes. I think it was for Mr. Sishtla Chandrasekhara
Sastry that He materialized a navaratna haram (chain with nine types of diamonds).
He gave a Nadaswaram artiste - I think he was Shaik China Moula, a ring that Swami
materialized then and there. It has Shirdi Sai and Sathya Sai Photographs on it.
I do not remember exactly, but I think it was during His 60th Birthday celebrations
that Swami gifted away 60 Kapilas (black cows) with calves, all of the same age
and shape. They appeared identical in all respects as if they were replicas of one
another. How 60 cows of the same colour, age and type with calves of the same age
were procured seems a miracle to me. Swami also gifted them along with a vessel
to milk the cows, a bucket to give them daana (feed) as well as new clothes for
the keeper, and some money for maintenance of the cow and calf for sometime.
I came again to Prasanthi Nilayam at the time of the Sports-meet this year. On January
12, 2004, I was in Darshan line. Swami called me from my line, and asked me to sit
in front of Him. I was overwhelmed with emotion on His benevolence. I was literally
shedding tears. Then He materialised an idol of Lakshmi Ganapati made of coral and
gave it to me.
Next day He took a letter from me. 'I want to spend the rest of my life here in
Bhagavan's service', I told Swami.
'I will give', said Swami smilingly and blessed me with raised hands.
I had already been doing Upasana of Panchakshari mantra, Rama shadakshari mantra,
Panchamukha Veeranjaneya, Bala, Chandi, Sudarsana, Sudashana Narasimha and Lakshmi
Ganapati. I could not understand why Swami had given me the idol of Lakshmi Ganapati
now. It occurred to me that He wants me to do Uapasana of it alone, perhaps, for
loka kalyanam. All welfare emanates only from Bhagavan. So I have taken up the deeksha
since January 2004 of doing Lakshmi Ganapati Mantra with the sankalpam that it should
promote the health of the body in which Lord has incarnated presently as Sri Sathya
Sai, as the well being of the universe lies only in the Lord. I am now toying with
an idea of giving up the deeksha mentally here at Prasanthi Nilayam in the presence
of the Lord.'
-- Mr. Lanka Lakshminarasimha Sarma.
(As narrated to Mr. B. Parvatala Rao at Prasanthi Nilayam on 04.11.2004.)
