Mr. K.V. Ragavan (63), who was a retired employee of the TELCO, relates one of his experiences in his own words.

'My son Mukundan was studying in a high school at Bangalore. As I was working with the TELCO in Jemshedpur at that time, I left him in the care of my mother, Mrs. Om Thyagi.

Sometime in 1971-72, my son left Bangalore on an adventurous trip without informing anyone in the house. He did so under the influence of a few others of his VI class. All of them left together to various places according to their whims and fancies.

My mother awaited his return from school for a considerable time and then felt anxious. She was aged 70, and was not educated. She was at a loss to know what to do. Yet she, somehow, managed to file a complaint in the Police Station and got an announcement appear in the Press, besides arranging for an announcement on the Radio. On receiving a phone call from her we rushed to Bangalore and tried our level best to locate the boy. We even had poojas performed, prasnas (astrological enquiries) asked and arranged rituals of tantric application at considerable expenditure. All failed to recover the boy, or get any information about the absconding boys.

We returned to Jemshedpur saddened. My wife was crying all the time unable to bear the separation. After sometime, I happened to meet a devotee of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba who, on hearing my tale, advised me to go to Puttaparthi and try to seek Swami's help. The very next day, I started for Parthi and reached the place for the first time after two days of journey by train. During the Darshan, Swami walked past me and I could not get a chance to talk to him. Same day He left for Brindavan, Bangalore. I, too, left for Brindavan and sat the next morning in the Darshan line with a photograph of my son in my hand. Swami came and stood in front of me. Even before I opened my mouth to tell Him the purpose of my visit, He told me, without even looking at the photograph of my son, 'your son is safe. He is in sound health. He will be back in a month!'

Exactly after a month, I received a postcard from my son informing me the place where he was. 'I have committed a gross mistake in leaving the house without informing anyone', he wrote, 'please forgive and forget'. We went to Natrampalli near Jolarpet immediately as per the address given by him in the letter, and brought him to Jemshedpur. Owing to Swami's grace, our son was back with us. Later, he studied well up to B.Com. He is now employed, well settled and married. He has been leading a happy life.'
