Mr. G.S.Garg (68), an Assistant Manager (Rtd), Food Corporation of India, narrates
how Bhagavan saved his entire family when his house collapsed.
When I was working at Kurukshetra, my house owner there is a Sai devotee. I used
to go to Bhajans with him. This was in 1993. That is how I have come into Sai family.
In 1993, I went to Brindavan, Bangalore and had Darshan of Swami for the first time.
When Swami returned to Puttaparthi from Brindavan, we, too, accompanied Him. We
did seva at Puttaparthi. Swami gave me Padanamaskar at that time.
I retired on July 31, 1994 as the Asst. Manager, FCI at Kurukshetra (Haryana) and
settled down at Sikandrabad. In 1996, I constructed a house there. On April 21,
1998, my wife, our second son and I were sleeping in a house opposite to our new
house. Two of my sons, their wives and their children were sleeping in the new house.
They were seven in all.
Around 2:30 a.m. that night, we heard a very big sound as if some bomb had exploded
somewhere near. My son who was with me, peeped into the open out of a window and
exclaimed, 'Dad! Our house is gone!' I could not understand. We came out to investigate.
Soon several people gathered there. Everyone was of the opinion that none of the
inmates of that house would survive. The lentil on the first floor as well as two
out of four of its rooms collapsed. Luckily, the lentil of the ground floor, two
sidewalls of rooms were intact. But two more sidewalls of the ground floor rooms
collapsed. The main entrance door was locked from inside, but collapsed.
When we saw the scene we had no hope of any survivors. But all the seven persons
sleeping inside came out without even a slight injury due to Swami's grace! Had
the main door been intact, there would have been little chance of their coming out.
But luckily it, too, collapsed giving way to them.
We felt very grateful to Swami for saving all our family members. We re-constructed
the house, thanks to Swami's grace, with my terminal benefits.
We make it a point to come to Puttaparthi for seva even though there has been no
Sathya Sai Seva Samiti at Sikandrabad so far. My wife and I come for seva, and have
Darshan at least once in a year.'
